Self-Compacting Concrete
Description:
Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC), also known as self-consolidating concrete, is a highly flowable type of concrete that spreads into place and fills formwork without the need for mechanical vibration.
Components:
- Cement: Acts as the binder.
- Aggregates: Includes sand, gravel, or crushed stone.
- Water: Activates the cement to form the paste.
- Superplasticizers: High-range water reducers that increase the fluidity of the mix without compromising strength.
- Viscosity Modifying Agents (VMAs): Stabilize the mix and prevent segregation.
- Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs): Such as fly ash, slag, or silica fume, to enhance workability and durability.
